Full Of Smile

By Yu NISHIDA

"I went to my Grand parents house!" "I went to the zoo with my family!!" "I didn't go anywhere during golden week..." These words were spoken by my friends. I think everyone did a lot of different things during golden week. I want to show you what I did during golden week. Before golden week my mom and dad were talking about what we were going to do. They couldn't decide what they wanted to do so I said "Let's go to an Onsen and let our stress!!". They thought this was a good idea so we dicided to go to an Onsen.

We went into our car and left to Nagano. It took about 2 hours from my house (My house is in Kasugai). Before we went to the onsen we played putter golf and fished. I thought putter golf was easy but it wasn't. Me and my mom didn't do well but my dad likes playing golf so he was very good at it!! I was envious. After that we tried fishing but we couldn't get any fish. But next time, I will angle a big fish!! We really had fun. I hope I can go there with my parents again.

The next day we went bowling. We played 3 games. My best score was 124 that day. My best score is 147 so I really want to reach it again. By the way my dad and mom's scores were 188 and 105. My dad is also good at bowling. I really respect him.

These things were the main thing that I did during golden week. I really had fun. I hope I can have fun next year too. I think family is the most important thing to me so from now I want to be dutiful to my parents.

Let's take good care of our families!!

Only FUN Just FUN Very FUN

By Chinatsu and Hitomi
I wanted to go to Europe after this interview. We interviewed 2 students who just came back from the London-Paris trip. We asked them 10questions. Let me introduce their answers to you. The 2 students names are Arisa and Saki, both of the girls are 2F and they are good friends. They liked London more than Paris. They went shopping in London. Then we asked, "How about Paris?" Arisa's answer was that they saw the triumphal arch. Saki's was that they saw the Eiffel Tower, and it was her favorite spot. We asked why and she said that it was because she had wanted to go there for a long time. Arisa shouted "I have many favorite spots so I can't decide!!" .
It seems that she had a great time in this trip. We asked what her favorite food was. Saki whispered,” My favorite food was KFC, because I don't think Italian food and French food are nice.” We were surprised!! Arisa's favorite food was sausage. Saki had to communicate with people who live there. We asked about troubles. Arisa did not get involved in trouble, but Saki did. Her group was separate for a moment. Finally, we asked her best memory. Arisa told us that it was shopping in London. Saki answered that she talked and played with her friends in the hotel. We thought if we go to London and Paris someday. Then we want to have a great experience like the 2 girls.

Marvelous Trip to Europe

By Hikari KAWACHI

A second year kokusai student went to Europe for 1 week. I interviewed one of the students who went on the trip. Her name is Erika. She spent about 70000 yen in 1 week. She said that it was an expensive trip for a high school student. The weather in Europe was between fall and winter. When she came back to Japan, she said that she was surprised with the hot and soggy weather. There is some difference between Europe and Japan because of the long distance. "It took about 12 hours to go there and a time difference of 8 hours. It made me crazy!!!" said Erika. But she had a lot of fun events. One of the best parts of the trip was the free time. She enjoyed shopping and watching many old buildings with her friends. She enjoyed the foods to. She ate traditional food made out of potatos. It is a kind of pie. And she ate some Chinese food in Paris. I thought it was odd but she said, "it was tasty then I thought.” "In Europe there is not any Japanese food so I miss it,” she said. They do not eat rice! The staple food is bread. She said that she ate a lot but she did not gain weight .I think because she walked everyday for a long time. In Europe, many people speak English but she said it was hard to understand what they were talking about. I asked her, "What part of the trip did you had difficulties in?” She answered,” I had troubles in, of course, speaking English and when I was lost, was very nervous but the people in Europe wer very kind so I was able to get back.” Was there a convenience store or fast food?" I asked. She said, "yes, there was quit a few convenience stores and a McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken.” She said that she had lots of fun times and many new things to learn so she wants to visit Europe again.

A Small GIANT

By Maki FUJII

"Dream as if you will live foever. Live as if you will die today.' These words were said by a man who was the youngest actor in Hollywood. James Dean. His real name is James Byron Dean and he was born in 1931 in Indiana in the U.S. He was in the drama club when he was a university student. After he quit the university he entered in an actor's studio in New York. He only played in 3 movies in his life, but he became famous, and he led the fashion for young people. Jeans came into fashion among young people because of him. Jeans were work clothes for workers. James Dean wore jeans as a fashion in his movie. "Only I can feel I'm perfect when I'm in the car race." James Dean really liked car racing more than anything. His own car was a Porsche Spider. In 1955, he departed this life at the age of 24. It was in a car accident. I have my favorite words that he said, "Only the gentle are ever really strong."

Trip to London and Paris

By Miho OSHIMA

I asked Sae Nakano about her trip. She is in Mr. Sano's class. She told me a lot about her trip and was very kind. On this trip, they went sightseeing with all the students and in small groups decided things by themselves. So they had a good time Sae said. The flight was very long and really tiring. During the flight, 3 movies were shown. They were Sayuri, Narnia, and King Kong. Sae watched all the movies. First, they visited London. Sae said, “London is better than Paris because London is more beautiful than Paris, and London's food was better than Paris's food." Second, they moved to Paris. Paris was good, but Sae said, "London is better." Sae stayed over at the hotel with 'Shiho.' Shiho is her best friend. They were talking, talking, and talking a lot. I think they really enjoyed talking. Sae really enjoyed this trip but the trip was too short she said. And at last she said to me, "You should go to London and Paris if you can. I recommend it to you very much!!"

The World will ROCK You?

By Ayumi SAWADA

Do you like music? Do you LOVE music? I do. I just can’t live without it. Music is great because it’s always there when you need it. Music has never betrayed me. It expresses your feelings, when you are sad, happy, fr4strated…etc. What kind of music do you like? Pop. Hip hop. reggae, surf, country, emo, metal, ska, trance? My favourite music is rock. I have liked rock since I was 13 years old. I love going to Tower Record and buying heaps of CDs and I love going to gigs with my friends. It’s just a awesome feeling!

This time I’d like to talk about a couple of big rock festivals in Japan. The first one is called “Summer Sonic”, which is on the 12th and 13th of August this year. Summer Sonic will be held in Tokyo and Osaka. Many bands (more than 50 bands I think) are invited to this festival. There are about 5 or 6 stages for each place. The bands are mostly from other countries such as America or the U.K. A few Japanese bands or singers come as well. They announce the new bands which are coming to the festival many times so there are more and more bands coming as the days pass. That means you might get an opportunity to see your favourite bands!! This is the 7th time this year. It’s about 12 hours a day. Isn’t it HOT!? I’m going to this festival this year!!

The second one is “Fuji Rock Festival”. It is also a big rock festival in Japan. it will be held on the 28th, 29th and 30th of July this year. More than 100 bands for 3 days they say!! This will be held in Nigata prefecture, which is a little countryside and the concert will be held in a ski resort. So you will see a lot of nature. They have about 10 stages. They have many bands from other countries and Japanese bands as well.

So why don’t you join those festivals if you like rock? It is a bit expensive and far but I’m sure it’s worth it! I’m joining Summer Sonic this year myself for the first time. I’m so happy and I can’t wait! They will ROCK YOU!!!!!
