Japanese Like Japanese Food

By Maho Sasaki

I interviewed Rika in the atrium at lunch time. She’s a second grade student. She talked to me about her trip to London and Paris. She stayed a week. First, I interviewed her about the place she visited. "Where’s the most impressive place?” I asked. And she said, "I visited the Versailles palace. It was really nice. Also I like Oxford.” Oxford is a city of London. I asked her, "Did you see any old buildings?” and she said, "I saw the opera house.” Then I asked her, "Did you speak English or French in Paris?” She answered,” I spoke only English, but people in Paris understood my English.” I interviewed about food. She said that she ate 'fish and chips’ that is a famous food in London and it was so-so. She likes Japanese or Chinese food and doesn't like French food. So she said that she ate Japanese and Chinese food in Paris and London.” It was the best,” she said. I agree with her, I think Japanese food is the best. It was just a few days, but I think she missed Japanese food. Before she left, she felt a little bit nervous. But when she arrived in London, she was so excited. She said that she felt scared about people in London. But now, she feels London is nice. In Paris, she found that is a very clean town. It was cleaner than she thought. She really enjoyed her trip. She wants to go again.

Let's Go to the Bed Rock Bath

By Nozomi Amano

What is a bed rock bath? You lie on the natural stone which is warmed from 50 degrees to 45 degrees. It causes more perspiration and sweat than a sauna bath. A stone discharges infrared rays so it conveys heat to the depths of the human body. There is outside the discharge for cancer prevention. How does it affect people??

*Improves poor circulation
*Cancer prevention
*Promotion of metabolism (DIET)
*A topic improvement
*Lumbago, stiff neck improvement of arthralgia
*Improvement of constipation
*Cancellation of stress

Things to prepare before bathing:
1. You need to drink water because you are sweating. So, drink water and rest.
2. You need a towel because, you dry yourself with a bath towel.

The bathing method:
1. Foot bathing (15minutes). You put a foot on a stone and relax. You’re foot swells in a short time. You recover from fatigue. After foot bathing, you move to a whole body bath.
2. A whole body bath:
You lie on your stomach and take a bath for five minutes and you turn over on your back and take a bath for ten minutes. You then take a bath again.
The bed rock bath is recently said to work as a diet. If you're interested, you have to go to the ”Bed Rock Bath.”

Who is the Funniest?

By Ikumi Koide

Do you know these guys? They’re Japanese comedians and they do MANZAI. MANZAI is one of comedy styles and we can see it only in Japan. Comedians who do MANZAI use only one long mike so they make people laugh, using just talking! These are my favorite comedians: ‘KIRIN’ , ’NON STYLE’ and ‘BLACK MAYONNAISE’. They are so funny!! Do you know M-1? That’s a big event that decides which duo is the funniest every year. BLACK MAYONNAISE was the winner in M-1 2005. They got a prize of 10 MILLION yen!! Winning M-1 is an honor for comedians. This year M-1 is also going to be held. Anybody can join in! Why don’t you join it and get 10 million yen!?

Sports day beats the rain

By STAFF WRITER

The third annual Nagoya International Junior High School sports day was held on Saturday 27 May. The day started with dark skies and rain threatened all day but all events were completed before the rain fell. In a repeat of the rehearsal, the green team were the victors, this time narrowly ahead of the yellow team. The day was very enjoyable and all students competed hard and fairly.

The event program was changed to the rain schedule so all track events took place in the morning. A highlight of these events was the girls’ 1000m event were young Akane Yamada took the tape ahead of many older rivals. The final event of the morning was the team relay. This was the only event that teachers participated in. Their team was soundly beaten into fourth place.

In the afternoon the fans were treated to a great display of high jumping. Yoshinori “Robin” Ogiyama, who cleared a height of 155cm, eventually took the title. To round off the day each team took part in the Tug of War. A victory for the yellow team here made for a very close finish. The final result was the red team in fourth place with 370 points, the blue team in third with 376, a close second was the yellow team with 397 and in first place the victorious green team who scored 403.
