The Fantastic EXPO!

By Yasuyuki SUGIURA

This year, the "Expo" opened in Aichi. Many people went to there, myself included. Even though I went to the Expo only one time, I enjoyed it very much because the food was very good and some of the pavillions were fantastic. I wondered if other students felt the same ways so I did a survey about it among the 3A and 3B students. Out of both classes, only five students did not go to the Expo.

Almost all students went there one time. A lot of students went there two times and only a few went there three or more times.

Some students drunk whiskey at the German pavillion and ate Chinese food at the Chinese pavillion. And in the Australian pavillion some students ate crocodile hamburgers and pizza. Hirohito Hosoe, 18, said: "It was good. It tastes like chicken."

Many students ate Turkish ice cream and the students said it was their favorite food, followed by Indian curry. I didn't try the curry but I ate the Turkish vanilla and coffee ice cream. It was stretchy like Japanese sweet rice cakes, but it was delicious. The students also said that the Sri Lankan "lotti chanai" was delicious. It is like Indian nan bread with curry inside.

The pavillions were very interesting. The most popular pavillion was the Egyptian pavillion followed by the Japanese pavillion. My favorite was the Australian one because they had a very big Australia platypus. I wanted to eat it, it looked like it would be delicious. I would probably fry it with yakiniku sauce and tomato ketchup.

At the Expo I saw the Crown Prince. He looked quite old but very kind. He smiled at everyone.

I think the Expo was a very good opportunity for us to learn about different countries without leaving Japan. I want to go there again.
